Balika Vadhu wrapped an eight year long saga on a happy note

Balika Vadhu, the most popular and loved show of Colors has concluded on its final episode on 31st July 2016. The show started in 2008 and successfully entertained the audience for eight years. Balika Vadhu portrays the story of brides who are married in their childhood. They are forced by the parents to unwilling enter into a marriage in the name of tradition and customs.

The show has successfully completed two seasons. The first season titled Balika Vadhu- Kacchi Umar Ke Pakke Rishte, is the story of life journey of Anandi and Jagdish who got married in childhood. The second season titled Balika Vadhu-Lamhe Pyaar Ke, portrays the life of Anandi’s daughter Nandini who also got married in childhood like her mother.

Balika Vadhu depicts the moral message to the viewers by portraying the plights of child bride. Anandi got married to Jagdish at the very young age of eight and has to accustom herself in every role. She faces many difficulties in tackling the numerous roles of a wife, daughter-in-law etc. When Anandi grew up, she fell in love with her husband Jagdish, but Jagdish had no belief in this marriage and he starts liking his college friend Gauri. They both get married and later divorced due to lack of trust and mutual understanding.

On the other hand, Anandi’s in-laws always take good care of Anandi and get her married to collector Shivraj Shekhar. They adopt an orphan boy and love him as their own son. Shivraj gets killed in a terrorist attack leaving behind Anandi and his new born twins- Shivam and Nandini.

Nandini gets kidnapped in her childhood and gets married to Kundan. Jagdish gets to know about the whereabouts of Nandini and frees her from the clutches of Kundan and his father Akhiraj. The story of season 1 Balika Vadhu ended with the death of Anandi by Akhiraj.

The second season portrays the life journey of her Nandini after the death of her mother Anandi. Nandini got separated from her brother Shivam and adopted by Shekhawat. Shekhawat helps her to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. Kundan’s step son Krish came in Nandini’s life. They both fell in love and got married. Kundan tries to create a misunderstanding between Nandini and Krish as he believes Anandi is responsible for his father’s death.

The show has ended on a happy note with siblings getting to know of each other. Nandini and Shivam are united after many years. Krish and Nandini misunderstanding gets cleared. Nandini writes a book on her mother Anandi’s journey as Balika Vadhu. The show is really aspiring and teaches a lesson of life. The little child actress Avika Gor has done a fabulous role as young Anandi. She has won hearts of the audience through her fine acting skills. Then Anandi’s role was played by Pratyusha Banerjee and Toral Rasputra to bring maturity and grown up look in her character. Anandi’s journey and Balika Vadhu came to an end, leaving many memories and teachings for the audience, as the show dealt with many social causes. Colors has earned much name with this milestone show, and hope to see more of such substantial shows in future.
